Question / Answer

Q. What inspired you to write this book? Was there a particular moment or event that sparked the idea?

Ans. Life itself inspired me. What stirred me most was the quiet, aching weariness I noticed everywhere — in my community, in the news, and in the stillness of my reflections. So many move through life burdened, questioning their worth, searching for meaning, and carrying unseen pain. I felt a calling to offer something enduring, not merely my own opinions, but the distilled wisdom of great minds and enduring spirits across generations. This book is my attempt to remind readers that, even in the midst of hardship, life retains its depth and dignity. It is a humble offering of hope, meaning, and spiritual nourishment for those who need it most. Was there a particular moment or event that sparked the idea? Yes, absolutely. The idea took root during one of the most emotionally turbulent seasons of my life. I was walking closely with friends and loved ones who were navigating deep valleys — grief, discouragement, and even moments of quiet despair. Some began to ask the kind of questions that hang heavy in the air: “Is life still worth it?” It was wrenching to witness. One quiet evening, desperate for some anchor, I turned to a book of quotations. And then—it happened. I read a line that stopped me in my tracks. It wasn’t loud or flashy, but it reverberated through me with the clarity of a bell. Shortly after, I stumbled upon Benjamin Disraeli’s words: “Quotations perpetuate the wisdom of the wise and the experience of ages.” That sentence didn’t just resonate — it reframed everything. Suddenly, I no longer saw quotes as clever wordplay, but as compact vessels of survival — guiding lights for dark seasons. That night, I asked myself: “If one line can stir this kind of clarity in me, what if there were a whole collection, curated not just for beauty, but for healing?” That was the moment it all shifted. This book wasn’t just an idea anymore. It became a calling.

Q. What research did you undertake to write this book? Were there any surprising or unexpected findings that you discovered during your research?

Ans. My research spanned years of reading books on philosophy, theology, literature, psychology, and self-development. I drew from centuries of thought, ancient texts, modern reflections, sacred scriptures, and timeless proverbs. I scoured libraries, journals, sermon archives, and speeches. But more than that, I also “researched” real life — listening to people, observing human behaviour, and reflecting on the struggles we all face. It was a mosaic of voices, and I made it my task to weave them into a single tapestry of insight and hope. Were there any surprising or unexpected findings during your research? Absolutely. One of the most surprising discoveries was the universality of human longing. Whether it was a Roman emperor like Marcus Aurelius, a 20th-century motivational speaker like Zig Ziglar, or a biblical sage like Solomon, they were all wrestling with the same questions: Why are we here? How do we live well? What gives life meaning? Despite differences in culture, time, or belief, the answers kept echoing one another, and that harmony moved me deeply. It was like listening to a cosmic chorus of wisdom that transcends eras.

Q. What was the biggest challenge you faced while writing this book? How did you overcome it?

Ans. The biggest challenge was not the writing itself, but the responsibility of curating truth. I was handling quotes and insights that had helped generations of people. I felt a deep duty to honor the original spirit of each quote, to avoid misrepresentation, and to arrange them in a way that brought clarity. It was also a challenge to maintain balance: making the book accessible without oversimplifying the ideas, and organizing so many voices into a smooth narrative flow. How did you overcome it? I overcame it with prayer, patience, and persistence. I treated the process almost like meditation — returning to the text each day, listening to how each quote resonated, revising endlessly until the arrangement “felt right.” I reminded myself that my role wasn’t to impose my voice, but to be a faithful bridge between wisdom and the reader. I also took regular breaks, allowing ideas to breathe before revisiting them with a fresh perspective.

Q. Can you share any interesting anecdotes or stories related to the writing of this book?

Ans. Certainly. One day, while compiling quotes under the chapter “Life Is A Struggle,” I found myself emotionally overwhelmed. I had just received news of a friend’s unexpected loss — and here I was, reading a quote by Florence Nightingale that spoke of life as “a wrestling with the principle of evil, hand to hand.” It was almost eerie. But instead of putting the book aside, I continued — and what I discovered next was a quote by Bernice Johnson Reagon: “Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze you; they’re supposed to help you discover who you are.” That moment felt like the book was speaking to me, not the other way around. It reminded me that I wasn’t just compiling a book — I was journeying through it myself. And in many ways, I still am.
