Together they cross mountain passes, follow coastlines, and move through the four seasons of Japan — past shrines, post towns, and ordinary street corners that hold more history than they appear to. The trilogy pairs original photography of contemporary Japan with Utagawa Hiroshige's ukiyo-e prints of the same stations from the Edo period — inviting readers to see what has changed and what has not across nearly two centuries. Private reflections on roadside objects, small adventures, unexpected encounters, and quiet failures complete the picture. As the journey progresses, the scenery moves like a haiku — capturing something precise and transient before it disappears.
