Follow the lives of Piet de Vries and Cian Bogan in the mid to late Sixties Piet de Vries, a Dutch immigrant moving from Rotterdam to London with his family at 5 years old because the scars the war left cut too deep. But being in college taught him more than just architecture. It thought him to keep his head and his guard up. Being gay is illegal in the UK and after his secret uni boyfriend chose a wife over him, because there really was no other choice, Piet vowed to hide this part of him, he'll find a bride, won't return to Rotterdam where being gay is legal. He has his little sister to take care off after all. One day a week at a brothel should keep his sickness at bay until he meets Cian. The Irish pub chef and sex worker, with his shy smiles, love for cooking and stories. Piet is like a moth to the flame that is Cian Bogan, who struggles because his mother threw him out of their home in Ireland for admitting he is gay. As their love grows in the shadows they both realize being gay is not a sickness, because how could a love so pure be anything other than a blessing. Piet's money, connections, and heritage, leave them with the ability to immigrate to the Netherlands where being gay is legal. Money however does not buy acceptance, between family members and society judging Piet and Cian for their love.
