Aphrodite

A mystery marked by mint… one you’ve never read until now.

A golden statue of the goddess Aphrodite has been stolen from her tomb in Cape Greco, Cyprus, and is now being sold at a black-market auction in Acapulco, Mexico.

Charles Berrington, the statue’s owner, sets a unique challenge to attendees: only those who can solve seven intricate riddles will have the chance to win it.

René Gonemi, an archaeologist, and her brother Petros Gonemi, a geologist, leave their antiques shop in Leukolla, Cyprus, and fly to Mexico with a colourful circle of friends: the sharp-tongued Mrs. Artemisia, Makis, little Telis, Liza, Alexis… and Angeliki, who has read every Agatha Christie novel ever written and is determined to treat this like the greatest mystery of her life.

But they are not the only ones hunting the goddess.

Leonidas, René’s childhood love, who vanished without a word from the orphanage, has now reappeared in Mexico City. And Cornelios, René’s former partner, with whom she parted on unhappy terms, is arriving from London, where he now works as a detective in collaboration with Scotland Yard.

The first riddle leads them to Frida Kahlo’s house and the ancient shadows of Teotihuacán…
The next drives them to Puerto Vallarta, to Casa Kimberly and Rhythms of the Night… dinner by the sea with a spectacular view in the jungle…
