Her mother's description of what happen between men and women sounds too enticing to pass up on though. She decides that her best friend Edmund will be the perfect candidate (A Portrait of Love). Their eldest son Henry ends up ruining the daughter of his father’s former mistress causing a stir in both the family as well as in the ton at large (The Marquis who Ruined Me). Hester, the youngest daughter, has always held a keen interest in birds, which does not seem to attract many suitors. At the age of 24 she is desperate enough that she allows her mother to host a house party where three likely candidates and their families are invited. Only she is much more interested in the brother of one of her suitors (Mating Rituals of the Haute Ton). The second son Archie is happy with his rakish and scandalous lifestyle, but when he accidentally elopes with a young woman, he comes to regret them as he tries to make his marriage to her work (An Accidental Elopement). The youngest son, Gregory, is working tirelessly as a doctor with little time for fun. Which is why when his childhood friend, the widowed Rosie, wants an affair with him, he agrees, only neither of them ever expected it to lead to love (Three Wishes Upon a Tombstone).
