In Crown-occupied Dublin, magic is regulated. She isn’t.
Seventeen-year-old Sadhbh has spent her life keeping her head down. By day she works in a Northside laundry; by night she returns to a tenement where whispers that she is a changeling have followed her since childhood. Most importantly, she hides the one thing the Crown can never discover: she can feel the magic running through the land beneath Dublin.
Then, cornered in a darkened lane, Sadhbh loses control.
The street erupts. Her secret is exposed. And every magical detection instrument in the city turns towards her.
Hunted by the Crown’s most formidable investigators, Sadhbh is forced into an underground world of outlawed practitioners, ancient bargains and roads that should not exist. But the deeper she reaches into Ireland’s magic, the more terrifying the truth becomes. Sadhbh does not wield the land’s power like other practitioners.
The land recognises her as part of itself.
And something far below the ley lines is beginning to recognise her too.
Something ancient is stirring beneath Ireland. The old paths are opening. The earth is remembering.
The Tuatha Dé Danann are waking.
And neither Sadhbh nor the Crown is ready for what happens when the old gods return.
