Forty-two-year-old librarian Dawn Keen is officially done with her cheating ex, city life, and pretending she's not falling apart. She trades concrete and chaos for the small town of Bannon Mills, where she plans to spend her days shelving books and helping people. No dating. No drama. Just peace, quiet, and maybe the occasional cup of tea that's still hot. But the ghosts inside the historic Red Oaks Library have other ideas.
When a Banshee begins wailing in the stacks and a long-forgotten mystery stirs in the halls of Red Oaks, Dawn is pulled into the tragic past of Moira Quinn—a young woman who disappeared without a trace. Armed with nothing more than her amazing librarian skills, a few extra pounds around her middle, and her quick wit, Dawn and her oddly unhinged assistant librarian follow ghostly clues to uncover Moira's story. But when she dives headfirst into the deep history of Bannon Mills, Dawn is forced to face her own past.
Ethan Callahan, the emotionally guarded handyman helping to keep the library from falling apart, is everything Dawn should want but can't quite reach. Then there's Charles Rennick, the gentlemanly ghost who haunts the library and understands her in ways no man ever has. Torn between the warmth of the living and the lingering pull of the dead, Dawn must navigate a decades-old mystery and the tangled threads of her own heart. And somewhere within it all, a restless spirit is still waiting for justice.
