Lucy Grace Interview

  • Q. Can you tell us a little about yourself and what inspired you to become a writer?

Ans. I’m an Ethiopian author with a passion for creating stories that inspire and spark imagination. Writing has always been my way of sharing ideas, hope, and joy with others. I write everything from children’s coloring and storybooks to faith-inspired reflections and travel guides. What inspired me most to become a writer is the chance to connect with readers to make them smile, think, or feel encouraged. There’s something magical about turning ideas into stories that touch hearts, and that’s what keeps me writing every day.

  • Q. What genre(s) do you primarily write in, and what draws you to that particular genre?

Ans. I primarily write in Christianity, children’s stories, and coloring/activity books, with some travel guides as well. What draws me to these genres is the opportunity to inspire, educate, and spark imagination in readers of all ages. I love creating stories that encourage faith, hope, and creativity, while also sharing knowledge and experiences through travel and cultural exploration. Each genre allows me to connect with readers uniquely, whether it’s through a heartfelt story, a fun coloring activity, or a journey of discovery.

  • Q. What is your favorite book, and what about it resonates with you the most?

Ans. One of my favorite books is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I love how it reminds us to follow our dreams and trust the journey, even when the path isn’t clear. The story resonates with me because it emphasizes hope, perseverance, and listening to the small signs along the way, themes I try to reflect in my own writing. It’s a book that inspires both imagination and self-reflection, and it continually reminds me why storytelling is so powerful.

  • Q. Who is your favorite author, and how have they influenced your writing?

Ans. One of my favorite authors is C.S. Lewis. I admire how he weaves imagination, faith, and life lessons seamlessly into his stories. His ability to inspire wonder while also conveying deeper truths has influenced my own writing, especially in my children’s books and faith-inspired stories. I strive to create books that not only entertain but also encourage reflection, hope, and curiosity, much like his work has done for me

  • Q. How do you show appreciation and love to your followers and readers? Do you actively engage with them on social media or through other means?

Ans. Balancing writing with other aspects of life can be a challenge, but I’ve learned to make it part of my daily routine. I set aside dedicated time for writing while also making space for family, friends, and my hobbies. Sometimes inspiration strikes in the quiet moments of everyday life, like a walk, a conversation, or observing children at play, and I capture those ideas immediately. Writing has become a natural part of my life rather than a separate task; it complements my experiences and allows me to bring more depth and creativity to everything I do

  • Q. What do you enjoy most about being an author, and what keeps you motivated to continue writing?

Ans. What I enjoy most about being an author is the ability to create worlds, stories, and experiences that can touch people’s hearts. Seeing a reader smile, feel inspired, or learn something new from my books is incredibly rewarding. What keeps me motivated is knowing that every story I write has the potential to spark imagination, provide comfort, or offer a fresh perspective. Writing allows me to share my creativity, my faith, and my love for storytelling with others and that sense of connection is what makes me keep going, book after book.

  • Q. Have you ever faced writer's block, and if so, how do you overcome it?

Ans. Yes, I’ve definitely faced writer’s block; it’s something every writer encounters at some point. When it happens, I try not to force the words. Instead, I step away, take a walk, read something inspiring, or spend time observing the world around me. Often, ideas come from the small moments of everyday life, a conversation, a scene I notice, or even a memory. I also find that keeping a notebook handy to jot down thoughts as they come helps me overcome the block and keeps the creativity flowing.

  • Q. Can you share any interesting or funny anecdotes from your writing journey?

Ans. One funny moment from my writing journey happened while I was working on one of my children’s coloring books. I was testing the illustrations and asked a group of kids what they thought. Instead of commenting on the drawings, they started creating their own stories about the characters completely different from mine! I ended up laughing and realizing how wonderfully imaginative children are. That moment reminded me why I love writing for kids — their creativity has no limits, and sometimes their ideas inspire me even more than my own.

  • Q. What advice would you give to aspiring authors who are just starting their writing journey?

Ans. My advice to aspiring authors is simple: just start writing. Don’t wait for the perfect idea or the perfect moment the most important thing is to put your thoughts on paper and let your creativity flow. Be patient with yourself, embrace mistakes as part of the learning process, and keep reading widely to expand your perspective. Most importantly, write from the heart. When your words come from a place of honesty and passion, they will resonate with readers and make your journey as an author deeply rewarding.

  • Q. Do you have any upcoming projects or works in progress that you'd like to share with your readers?

Ans. Yes! I’m excited about several upcoming projects. One of them is My Dream Football Coloring Book, The True Christmas "The Story of Jesus Birth" Story which combines creativity and fun for young sports enthusiasts. I’m also working on Ethiopia: Beyond the Obvious: A Travel Pocket Guide to the Omo Valley, which explores the beauty and culture of Ethiopia in a way that’s accessible and inspiring for travelers. Each project reflects my passion for storytelling, creativity, and sharing meaningful experiences with readers of all ages, and I can’t wait to bring them to life.

  • Q. Finally, what are your goals and aspirations as a writer? Where do you see yourself and your writing career in the future?

Ans. My goal as a writer is to continue creating stories that inspire, uplift, and connect with people around the world. I hope to reach more readers children, dreamers, and believers through books that spark imagination, faith, and curiosity. In the future, I see myself growing as an author, exploring new genres, and sharing more stories that reflect both creativity and hope. Most of all, I want my writing to leave a gentle mark on hearts reminding readers that words have the power to heal, teach, and bring joy.
